Great news for Oodle, they’re getting a competitor in the form of new classified search engine,

How can this be good news for Oodle? I’m a big fan of theirs but have seen how difficult a task it is to spread the word that classified search is going to be valuable in the future. With the launch of Vast, we now have validation that classifieds are going to be a hot topic in the next few years.

Competition is good in any industry. It ensures you keep innovating while spreading the cost associated with bringing awareness to the masses.

  • Jay Westmark

Not to be cynical but this is just what we need. . . another bandwidth sucking, duplicate page maker, content thief that tries to build a brand off of the work of others.

Based on all of the Inet start-up activity and squirrelly deals we’re seeing the VCs must have amnesia. This is reminiscent of the late 90s and early 2000’s.

BTW I wanted to thank you. I attended one of your free SEO introduction seminars two years ago and it was instrumental in my success on the net.

Thanks and keep up the good work!

  • You certainly have a point. I bet a lot of VC pitches start with “We aim to be the Google of [insert vertical here]” 😉

Thanks for your kind words about the seminar. We’ll likely conduct another one this year, so drop me an email and I’ll keep you updated.

  • Wow Jay, tough crowd. Vast is a search engine – every link on there leads back to the crawled site. I would think that the people whose classified ads were crawled would be happy as the ads get more distribution.
