SunRocket Scraps Everyday Hogwash, Stiffs Judges

Remember back in January, I voiced my concerns about SunRocket’s “Everyday Hogwash” contest and how it was giving bloggers a bad name by paying them to gripe? At first, I thought I was a lone voice, but then many others voiced their concerns.

Well, it all went quiet until today, when the Consumerist reported that SunRocket had not only scrapped the contest, but had stiffed the judges out of the $500 they were promised.

Oh the irony. :-)

I can’t complain too much about SunRocket. They did award me the $1200 for my missing pop tart.

I would like to know who the Grand Prize Winner is though :( It’s kind of like winning a race by a nose and never knowing who really won.

It’s comforting to know that it wasn’t just the “winners” who were abandoned though.

As one of the weekly winners who has been waiting with bated breath to see if I won the grand prize, only to find out there wasn’t going to be one, I am equally upset with Everyday Hogwash for not letting us know that we were getting hosed for writing about getting hosed. I’d have had more respect for them if they’d have owned it months ago and taken us off the tenterhooks once and for all.

Everday hogwash aside, with the mess Vonage is now in with their IPO, I still see SunRocket as the cheapest and most affordable VoIP option right now.

I’m curious, how does the IPO affect Vonage’s service? I hear more grumblings about SunRocket’s service than I do Vonage’s.
