WOW! Digg.com is going crazy!!! For those “unbelievers,” here it is, the actual scanned letter. I am sure new comments will appear that I wrote it, but I am not sure how I can prove I did not. I guess you are going to have to take my word for it
Al
UPDATE 2 (from Andy): Google has emailed me to confirm the letter was from them. The sender is Adam Lasnik, one of Matt Cutt’s search evangalists. Google certainly knows how to keep good relations with search marketers, and it just proves that Google thrives on word of mouth.
UPDATE 3: We told you!
Google’s Adam Lasnik confirms he sent Al the stuff he needed to ease his headache.
Today’s article is below.
________________________________________________________________
Several days ago, I wrote an article titled, “Dear Google, You’re Giving Me a Headache.” To my surprise, they sent me the pain relief I requested.
After a meeting at Fortune Interactive, where I was actually discussing Google reporting, I went to my desk and found an envelope from Google. I opened the envelope and a small pack of acetaminophen fell out. The hand written letter said:
Dear Al,
I hope this helps you keep up with the many Adwords changes.
PS - You are reading the Inside Adwords Blog, right?
Google continues to amaze me. Even though they are a huge company, they obviously found my article on Marketing Pilgrim, got some acetaminophen, wrote a letter, and mailed it to me. This may not have taken much of their time, but I am sure it is the small things, like this, that make their employees love working there.
I took the acetaminophen, read their “Inside Adwords” Blog, and I feel a lot better. As a matter of fact I feel so good I am preparing my next article, “Dear Google, I Need a Vacation.”

Funny, I posted about this yesterday where I encouraged people to wait and see how they responded.
I view this all as a recognition of what they have to do to become a customer listening organization.
I’d like them to mail me some things to. I might have to make a new post on that.

Can’t believe they actually send you pills! They read it, find you address and send you pills. They have more time in their hands than I thought

July 14th, 2006 at 2:00 pm
They should start a distribution of the acetaminophen since I got confused with the changes to Adwords after coming back to use it.

Yeah right. Sounds like Al needed something to post - so he dreamed this up. Is that how you guys manage postings on your “Corporate Blogs”, too?

July 14th, 2006 at 3:21 pm
amazing! are you sure it is google itself who sent you the letter?
July 14th, 2006 at 3:21 pm
That’s hilarious!
I’m now going off to read your article and hopefully I’ll find enough inspiration to write a post titled “Google, I want a new car… (make sure its got a/c, gps mapping, and some cool sound system)“.
July 14th, 2006 at 3:29 pm
We couldn’t believe it either, but it’s on Google letterhead and in a Google envelope. Al posted the office address in the first post, so they knew where to send it.
Google has read Marketing Pilgrim for a while, we’re just glad they care about the health of search marketers.

We’re working on uploading a scan of the letter for all you doubters.
July 14th, 2006 at 3:51 pm
Umm.. what makes you believ that its google and not some prankstar?
July 14th, 2006 at 4:11 pm
Pain Away(TM) rocks. Acetylsalicylic acid, Acetaminophen, and Caffeine all in one little pill. I used to pop way too many of these when I was a 9-5 county employee.

Glad to hear they have a sense of humor. I wish more companies were like that–

Well, I’m glad you got a favourable response. It’s great to know that Google cares for its users. Now if only they would visit my Blog

So Adam, how about posting confirmation at the Inside Adwords blog? Or maybe your own blog - http://www.bladam.com/
July 14th, 2006 at 6:10 pm
Now that’s PR! =D
July 14th, 2006 at 7:36 pm
Andy… guess we were thinking the same thing! I just did post a note on my blog:
http://www.bladam.com/main/entry/under-the-microscope/
What a crazy Friday!
July 14th, 2006 at 7:48 pm
I just noticed Adam actually replied on digg. His comment states:
I’m the guy from Google who sent the note and pill packet :). Just took me a minute or two, and I figured Al’d get a chuckle. This definitely got, um, a bit wider coverage than I expected!

Dear Google,
I need a laptop so I can write when ever my mood come
July 19th, 2006 at 5:24 am
Humans like humans.
I’m sure that one of the reasons for Google’s success is that they don’t stop their employees from acting like humans; on the contrary, they seem to encourage it.
I use Google Adwords and I use Google to search, and always feel as though I’m dealing with a small friendly company. When you think how big they are, that’s amazing.
I wish I felt the same about other large corporations I have dealt with…

[…] I had lunch today at Google with a friend. Why do I continue to go there? It frustrates me to no end and I’m always left feeling jealous and inspired at the same time. They really put the cult into culture. Probably half the people are wearing apparel with the Google logo (which, let’s face it, looks like crap). It’s a vibrant place where you can see the best practices in the care and feeding of employees. Over on Crunchnotes, Mike talks about how Google smugness is at an all time high because of their “Google Ice Cream” stunt. He’s right about the smugness (it’s a company, people, not a family, no matter how fuzzy you feel), although this particular issue really didn’t seem like a big deal…just a few coolers with ice cream sandwiches with the Google logo on the packaging. I think moves like this are good PR because the cost is very low relative to the buzz. Another perfect example is the anecdote about how Google mailed a blogger some aspirin after he complained of a headache from their site. […]

Regards from Copenhagen Colocation. Yes Inside Blog gives very good tips, but as we, administrate more than 100 campains desktop) is hopeless slow on web and the AdWords Editor does not have all the facilities as on web. This really means that the advertizer pays a lot because of slow and missing funtionality.
