Exactly! I learned a lot about "what not to do" while at other companies. ;-)

Andy,
What the hell would you know about companies that lock clients into long term contracts. *wink*

Thanks for your feedback.

I'm just getting warmed-up! I plan a series of articles that will hopefully shine the spotlight on those who don't provide value to their clients.

If anything Andy I'd say don't hold back on trashing the trashy SEO firms. My firm started out as a web dev firm but is moving towards the goal of being about 90% SEO and 10% web design/dev, and one of our biggest frustrations as we grow our SEO business is that we have to deal with other firms that don't provide any actual value to their clients. Because our clients aren't educated themselves they don't know who to trust because they get conflicting messages from everyone they talk to. For those of us trying to run legitimate SEO consulting operations a more educated clientele is a wonderful thing.

This post is right on. I never liked companies that require you to pay yearly upfront. There is no way they can be sure you'll need the same level of service. If SEO is done right, you'll be cutting back.
