I also had problems on my phone SonyEricsson V800 but I solved it in the end. I can tell you that the app is great and very fast; it has that old Google look. Everything is great but if you have other accounts like Hotmail, or Yahoo mail you will have to install another mail app. I use Movamail http://movamail.com/ for all of my mail accounts including Gmail.

2 big thumbs up from me on this program. I don't do much email from my mobile, mainly because I don't like a lot of the tools out there where I have to DL the mail. This looks like a nice break from the norm. It almost makes me want to take Google up on their offer to private label host my domains email.

No go. It didn’t work and then I found this… Note: The Gmail application doesn’t currently work with T-Mobile USA or BREW-based carriers (e.g. Verizon, Alltel, U.S. Cellular).

My phone is on Verizon…oh well.

I’ve experimented with this app on my Treo 650 this morning. It works pretty well, though I had to do a little detective work to get the installation to work correctly.

I think Google is on the right track in creating useful and easy-to-use smartphone apps. Google Maps is even better on the Treo. It is a perfect practical program that saves tons of clicks and time.
