It won't be 'individuals' who subscribe to the premium content. It will be employees who have access to 'spend it and forget it' sized budgets. Actually it's genius on SEOmoz's part. I'm sure that Rand does not think of it in the same way that I am spinning it, but the reality is that there are a lot of corporations, marketing offices, SEO offices, etc. where $40 a month is a drop in the wineskin.

This is the online continuation of a rich tradition. Think about all of those four and eight page professional monthly newsletters that offer subscriptions to accountants, marketers, fundraisers and lots of other professions. It is exactly the same audience (SEO/Internet Marketing niche) that purchases those subscriptions that will become premium members.
