Al Gore Invented Blogs Back in 1971

OK, so maybe Al Gore didn’t try and take credit for inventing the humble “blog”, but, as CNET informs us, there are many early diarists that could stake their claim for being the father of blogging.

Was the first blogger the irascible Dave Winer? The iconoclastic Jorn Barger? Or was the first blogger really Justin Hall, a Web diarist and online gaming expert whom The New York Times Magazine once called the “founding father of personal blogging”?

What’s the earliest blog you remember reading?

The earliest I remember is my own - back in 1993 or -4. I jumped on the internet and web design way back then, and was the first person I found to keep an online journal or “blog”. In fact, I’d picked my way around the internet back then, inviting people to come view my site and leave messages in my guestbook, and all that as well, so I guess I was the first social internet marketer too! LOL :P
