AOL’s New Design Screams "Don’t Innovate, Imitate!"

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then it seems the search engines just can get enough of each other.

AOL is the latest to earn the “copy cat” moniker, with the rollout of a new home page design that looks just like Yahoo’s.

Let’s see where else have we seen one search engine copy another?

I wonder if his is something that can be sued over. I’ve heard stories of large corporations suing affiliates who imitate their PPC landing pages.

While I normally believe people need to relax wen they get worked up over things like this, this does look pretty blatant. Though I doubt there is much recourse they have unless code was taken directly from Yahoo’s page and used in AOL’s.

Wow, it just blows my mind how blatant they’re being about it. I mean, don’t they worry that their users might recognize the rip-off and feel turned off to the site?
