Sydney Morning Herald Publisher Makes Deal with Google

Fairfax Digital, the online arm of Australian mega-publisher Fairfax Media, has announced an advertising and content syndication deal with Google.

As part of the deal, Fairfax will display Google AdWords on popular sites such as smh.com.au and theage.com.au. Fairfax has also agreed to use Google Video for online broadcasting and Google Maps for its real estate web site, domain.au.com.

Fairfax Digital chief executive Jack Matthews said Google was a good fit for the newspaper group’s online strategy.

“The reality is Google here is a company that can deliver big business to Fairfax Digital, it’s a company that we’d like to do more business with and it’s not dissimilar to the way newspapers might historically look at online.”

Maybe this deal will be connected also to the Print Adverts so we might see our ads in real newspaper.
