Apple to Announce Google Partnership?

It must be at least a week since we last had a Google rumor, so Wired comes to our rescue with this juicy piece of gossip that involves Apple. They’re suggesting that Steve Jobs will likely, use Monday’s conference to tell the world about a partnership with Google.
One announcement I’m almost sure of, however : A far reaching, cloud computing partnership with Google. Both companies have been hinting about it for months, and it makes perfect sense…Google runs cloud based hardware and software better and cheaper than anyone in the world right now. How does it make money? By getting as many people as possible looking at advertising alongside search and other various software offerings. Imagine all the traffic from the following: You buy a Mac and you automatically get a free Google account.
With Google’s Eric Schmidt already on Apple’s board of directors- which has sparked many rumors about partnerships - it wouldn’t be too surprising to see this kind of partnership announced. It will be interesting to see the reaction, when two of the coolest brands in the world, join forces. Will their offspring be just as beautiful, or will loyalists from both camps reject the intrusion.

This would be a huge announcement if they do! I don’t think it would come as a big surprise however.

I’m not sure what it is, but as Google grows and consumes the earth, I just like them less and less. It often feels like their “Don’t do evil” attitude is just a scam. I think maybe its because advertising is their bread and butter. It just feels dirty using their stuff sometime because I can picture all this information being collected about me to be used on me at a later date.
Apple on the other hand, is usually good at remaining lovable. Even as they’ve grown, their image has stayed intact.
I love a lot of the Google apps and services, and if they somehow created a Google/.mac service (.mac integration/all google services) that would be really interesting.

[...] This started off a wave of analysis and speculations in the blogosphere. At Between the lines Dan Farber writes that the alliance is not unlikely: Google CEO Eric Schmidt is on Apple’s board for a reason, and I don’t think that he got the seat because he and Steve Jobs share their iTunes playlists, he notes. Erick Schonfeld at The Next Net wonders whether Apple will be merely bundling in existing Google products which are already freely availble to any Mac or PC user, or whether Apple customers will get their own special flavor of Google applications. And Andy Beal, writing at his Marketing Pilgrim, notes that it will be interesting to see the reaction when two of the coolest brands in the world join forces. “Will their offspring be just as beautiful, or will loyalists from both camps reject the intrusion,” he asks. Fred’s theory is pretty interesting. You should check out today’s Digital Daily, where John Paczkowski bolsters it with some compelling Jobs Google-Maps-on-the-iPhone quotes from the All Things Digital conference.

It looks like Google wants to beat MicroSoft.

We’ve heard this sort of rumours before, like Sun and Google partnership. While it seems rather unrealistic, many people want to believe these stories.

@Perde, but Sun and Google did partner.

Ah sorry they did yes, but I think its scale was smaller than expected. People were talking about Sun & G would develop a revolutionary OS, but they came up with some relatively minor projects like intergrating G toolbar to somewhere and so. I might be wrong though.
What I mean is people dislike MS and want a replacement, that must be why there are this many rumors.
