A few more pieces of news from around the blogosphere.

  • Is it time for our periodic identity crisis again? Search Engine Roundtable highlights a HighRankings forum thread that asks: “If you do SEO, SEM, Optimisation, etc… do you call yourself a Search Engine Marketer? Web Marketer?”
  • When you explain what you do, SEO/SEM tends to either draw blank looks or blatant disgust. My favorite, and I believe Andy’s as well, is “Internet Marketing Consultant.” The original poster on HighRankings said he liked “Online Marketing Consultant.” I guess that’s functional, too, but have you done your keyword research? 😉

  • Been a while since you had a juicy rumor? Okay, Search Engine Land has a little news on the Google Phone. Sorry, no leaked images this time.
  • Search Engine Journal gives us an overview of AOL Local Search Beta 2. It looks reasonably good. Any local search experts want to take it for a spin?
  • Read/WriteWeb reports that Google Maps will add AdSense. Check out the screencap–it makes it all clear.
