I think one of the bigger questions is why did “Live” get categorized under Windows in the first place? Most of the Live products are independent of the Windows operating system. If nothing else, they could make Live a third sub-brand of Microsoft, and remove Windows from the equation all together. What marketer thought it would make more sense to call MSN Hotmail (2words/11char) Microsoft Windows Live Hotmail (4words/30char)?

As for now, google has the advantage, i think in the near feature it will be similar to microsoft’s schema as they buy new services every month.

Very interesting, thanks. Those are indeed very telling diagrams.

In fairness to Microsoft however, I have to note that when look at the above diagrams, if you turn your laptop sideways, the Microsoft diagram looks like three long a sleek rocket ships, whereas the Google diagram looks like just one short rocket ship.
