Pre-conference News

A few links to tide you over today while Andy and I are at the conference:

  • Expanded Match Terms Bolded in AdWords, but not consistently. Convenient color coding!
  • Worldwide SEO Myths debunked by Shari Thurow. Doesn’t cover the low-level stuff, though. I’m so tired of this one site I write for telling me that if I put punctuation next to a word in a title tag (ie “Bandersnatch: the frumious” vs. “Bandersnatch : the frumious”), search engines won’t recognize it as the same word (ie “bandersnatch:” is different from “bandersnatch”).
  • 15% think the Internet is the best way to debut a new product. 37% say television is the best. (eMarketer; live on a limited basis)
  • Keys to mobile marketing–rehashing some old stuff, but a reminder that people are more willing to receive advertising if there’s something in it for them. Like a free phone. (eMarketer again; ditto.)

Hope that’s enough for at least a little while!

I read Shari Thurow’s article. Unfortunately, i don’t agree the part of ranking with Web 2.0. For my side, using new technologies gives you good rank. Not directly, but it gives effective overall ranking.

Yeah, I don’t think I agree with all that much Shari had to say. For example, she seems to discount the fresh content factor when in fact, the recent NY Times article gives that even more support.
