I got you something special for the weekend. I got you a Gilbert and Sullivan parody! You may not know Pirates of Penzance, but I’m sure you’ve at least heard the Animaniacs’ version of the “Major-General Song.” (“I am the very model of a modern major-general” . . . ?)

Okay, then pretend you have. You’ll probably recognize it when you hear this parody by Lauren Weinstein, “I Am the Very Model of a Modern Major Googler” (direct link to the MP3). It’s pretty darn good, considering that Gilbert & Sullivan lyrics are probably among the most difficult to imitate in the entire lexicon (I’m not exaggerating in the slightest). The full parody lyrics are here. (via)

And your other fun Friday link (sorry, I only have two): The Crazy, Messed up World of eCommerce. As they put it, “What if offline shopping were as cruel and difficult as buying online?” Go check out the adventures of a grocery store as an eCommerce store: crappy search results, slow loading times, stupid redirection and more.

Best of all? These both qualify as “working”!
