The site is a superb idea, and I am eager to see it come into it’s own, but this launch… It seems undercooked. This site is for SEOs and related professions, but it needs SEO in a majorly bad way and there’s no way it’s going to retain members of the feed juggling online marketing audience without RSS oozing from every pore. I’m sure they’ll work it all out, and my guess is the launch was done to coincide with SMX Social, but I’m not so sure a bad launch is better than a timely launch.

@Solomon – fortunately, Gooruze doesn’t have to support all of us.

I’m sure if Gurus.com was available for a good price, we would have snapped it up. Flickr and del.icio.us are our inspiration that badly spelled domain name won’t hold you back.

You’d be surprised at the number of domain names that weren’t available before I managed to get MarketingPilgrim.com

@Becky – Gooruze aims to bring more of a social interaction and networking that I believe Marketing Profs lacks. The best thing to do is sign-up and check it out. There’s a “features request” group there where you can suggest a Facebook interface.

Hi Andy, thanks for the overview of Gooruze. It looks pretty cool.

Questions: how is it different from sites like MarketingProfs, which have forums, blogs, as well as seminars and articles? Also, do you know if it will interface with Facebook so we don’t have to start another new “friends” list?

Of course, you may not be the right person to answer these questions, so just point me in the right direction!

That’s a large staff (founding gurus) to support off a new site.

I think the domain name you choose is relatively terrible, Is there a particular reason you didn’t spend the $1,000-$2,000 it costs to get a short, easy to remember, and correctly spelled name?

In contrast I believe the domain name of this site: “marketingpilgrim” is excellent.
