Useful updates from Linkedin, and about time too. I think there is place for Linkedin and Facebook both in their respective spheres. They both add unique value I dont think that i could use one instead of the other and am in general agreement with Andy in the conclusion that he draws about the uses he would put both networking sites to.

Even with this great news, I have to agree with you Andy. LI is still the place I go to beef up my resume and do employment related activities. If I want to truly interact Facebook is where I'm heading.

Believe me, I so want LinkedIn to emulate Facebook. So would my college-aged son who reluctantly added his dad to his FB network. (And who, btw, has not wasted a minutes breath over privacy concerns or Beacon!)

I am going to saunter over to Jeremiah's site and read what I'm sure will be an insightful analysis.

Interesting announcement. From a user's perspective, it's tough as many I know have turned to Facebook for updates and interaction. I come to LinkedIn for the LinkedIn Answers, which has been helpful, but I think people see LinkedIn for more of a professional/sales and job tool - not a platform for meaningful business interaction.

@Jeremiah - OK, so they had another announcement regarding the API. Facebook has the same thing, but it's still more of a network than a platform, right?

@Jeremiah - perhaps in the future, but right now it's just a dashboard rollout.

It's more than just a dashboard, this is a platform play.
