There are two mobile-related announcements from Google to share with you this morning. If you’re a user of the iPhone or Blackberry, we have some candy for each of you.

First, iPhone users get a better interface for Picasa–perfect for showing your photo collection off at the pub (apparently).

Today, I’m happy to tell you that we’ve just released this new iPhone interface for Picasa. After you go to Picasa on your iPhone and log in, you can quickly see all your albums that you’ve uploaded to Picasa Web. If you click on any of the albums, you can get a full view of your picture with comments from your friends. Or you can click on Slideshow, sit back and watch the pictures scroll. You can also search for photos in your album or through community photos. Finally, with one of my favorite features, you can view your friends’ albums through favorites.

If you have an iPhone or iPod Touch go to and check it out

Next up, something sweet for Blackberry users, such as moi.

Ever since I moved my office apps to Google, I’ve been frustrated with the third-party applications that promised to sync my Blackberry’s calendar with Google Calendar. I had given up last week, then last night Google comes to my rescue like a knight in shining armor.

Here’s what Google Sync does…

Get calendar alerts – Using your BlackBerry® smartphone’s native calendar, you can now access your Google calendar even when you don’t have network coverage and be alerted for upcoming appointments with sound or vibration.

Always in sync – Your Google Calendar stays synchronized whether you access it from your computer or your phone. You can add or edit entries right on your BlackBerry® smartphone or on your Google Calendar on the web.

Depending on how up to date your device is, you may need to download a patch from Blackberry. Don’t worry, your phone will tell you how, if that’s the case.

  • Finally a Google Calender sync! Just so everyone knows my 8830 needed a patch from Blackberry, but it did work fine like you said.

  • Thanks, just read this. I’m going to try to get this to work on my Blackberry Storm. Has anyone else got this working on the Storm yet?
