Strange, because in the Competition for the longest line between online shoppers, Facebook is on top followed by PerfSpot, MySpace and Yuwie.

Indeed, I appreciate Facebook a lot more myself and given their current growth rate, it’s just a matter of time until they become market leaders, unless, of course, the people over at MySpace have a few tricks lined up

These statistics are certainly very interesting. With all the hype surrounding Facebook I would have assumed they would have been a lot closer to(if not leading) MySpace in market share.
It should be interesting to see if the Beacon fiasco has any impact on these stats in the coming months.

I have to agree with the earlier comments. I was actually quite surprised by these statistics, as I had assumed that with its ever-growing user base, Facebook would have surpassed MySpace by this point. My thinking was based on the fact that with Facebook’s uninterrupted growth in popularity and MySpace’s steady decline as the leader of social networking sites, Facebook would consequently have the highest amount of traffic. Although this may not be the case presently, there is no doubt in my mind that come 2008, Facebook will be topping the carts as the social networking sites with the most hits and the highest market share within the US.

I must admit that i am surprised facebook is quite so far behind. I personally prefer facebook, and maybe it will catch up in time. Myspace seems to be more popular amongst the young, while facebook appears to appeal to a slightly more mature audience in my experience. Not sure if that has anything to do with the relevant popularity of both sites though.

While MySpace is still in the lead and it appears that it will continue to be for quite some time, Facebook is definitely growing at a more than decent pace and who knows what the future holds
