OK, so here’s the deal. It’s been far too long since we had a prize giveaway at Marketing Pilgrim AND I just happen to have a brand new Nokia Internet Tablet sitting under my desk–never opened!

It seems like the perfect opportunity to combine the two and have some fun. I thought long and hard about the format of the new contest, then I had a vision. Actually, it was more like a browser window. You see, just the other day, I reached 1000 posted tweets on Twitter at the exact same time that the 500th person signed-up to follow my Twitter account.

OK, where’s all this going? Bear with me.

If you’re not already following me on Twitter, you’re potentially missing out on news, thoughts and opinions that never make it on to Marketing Pilgrim. I share a lot of stuff that wouldn’t be substantial enough for a Pilgrim’s Picks, let alone a standalone post. In addition, I chat to some pretty cool people on Twitter–so by following me, I can introduce you to them.

Starting to make sense?

Of course, if I just asked you to follow me on Twitter–and ask that you trust I’ll have something interesting to say–you’d probably be skeptical. So, I’m offering a bribe too!

Sometime between now and Jan 31st, I’ll post instructions on Twitter for how you can enter to win the uber-cool (did I just use “uber?”) Nokia N770 Internet Tablet. Is it worth winning? Well, here’s what it can do:

  • Check email
  • Check RSS feeds
  • Browse the web with a full browser
  • Send instant messages
  • Use the built in wi-fi
  • Stream audio/radio
  • Make VOIP telephone calls
  • Take notes using the touch screen
  • Use bluetooth
  • Just 5.5″ wide!
  • And keep up to date with!!!

So go ahead and join Twitter now. Even if you unsubscribe after my first “heading to dinner” tweet, you might still find someone else interesting enough to follow. 😉

  • Jonathan Greene

Just started to follow you … the Nokia Tablet is definitely an intriguing prize. Are you giving away the N810? The pic is the original 770…

  • Andy Beal

Just the N770 – you’d probably need to follow me physically to justify the cost of the N810. 😉

  • Shana Albert (TheNanny612)

I’ve been following you for quite some time now…. Now, I think I’m going to be Stalking you too!! 😉 I’ll be watching for details… I wanna win!!!

Ok Andy you sucked me in. I’m still not a big Twitter user, but you were the first or second person I followed (I think). The Nokia does look uber cool so now I’ll have to start paying more attention. You might just get me to use Twitter.

  • Andy Beal

@Steven – cool, I’ll look out for your tweets.

Yes I’m pretty sure stalking is the way it’s going to be since I already follow you too :p

    Good fun contest :)

  • Melanie

Do you ever friend any of your followers Andy? It’s frustrating not being able to communicate with you on there… only see you and your friends chatting. Yah know?

  • Andy Beal

@Melanie – absolutely I do. If you tweet @andybeal I’ll see your message even if I don’t follow you. That’s how we can chat! :-)

  • Trisha Fawver

See, Andy has even started using the @NAME convention to address people! 😛

  • Andy Beal

@Trisha – actually started using that before I used Twitter, but it does get hard to @stop @doing. 😉
