Google should certainly not feel threatened.

Good old Bill has a hard time giving stuff away, like Google does, so, he will not be able to even compete

There is lot of buzz on how the acquisition will play out well for advertisers but isn't it really becoming more of an oligopoly ? Also, MS's acquisition does not seemed aimed at improving user experience but more towards just reigning in Google.

Google should not feel threatened by Microsoft-Yahoo. If Google has problems the most likely cause will be bad decisions or execution by Google nothing else.

Embassy Suit, while I highly doubt that we will see the end of G anytime soon, I agree that collapsing under their own weight is indeed the biggest risk they are facing.

Best wishes and thank you for your comments,

Some at the top at Google clearly are keeping an eye on the competition but, culturally, Microsoft is the one that will develop multi-paged competitive disection of each potential move. Google's all about throwing a whole bunch of ideas at the wall as fast as possible and seeing what sticks.

For the most part, Google doesn't care what MS or Yahoo does.

Actually yes, Google should but not from Yahoo+MS thing, No one really knows what would come out from Yahoo joining MS. MS have killed its MSN brand and has trouble with making its Live services hit the top, so the same may happen with Yahoo.
But Google should be afraid of itself. Lack of competition in the market, its dominance in search and advertising is threat to itself, Google Adsense is getting worse, many of its loyal publishers are ready to move away if they get a good alternative, but Adsense is around one third of all Google revenues. Adsense going down will certainly be end for Google shares going so high, And even may be end of Google.
