Google has passed Microsoft and the BBC to become the UK’s strongest brand, according to a new report from Superbrands.
Some other interesting observations:
- Google is the only company on the list to have started after 1990.
- The other 49 listed companies have an average age of 90 years in business.
- Google muscled out British favorites including the BBC, BP, British Airways, and Rolls Royce.
- Google jumped from #5 last year, to #1 this year.
- Apple dropped completely out of the Top 10 (#8 last year).
The list is compiled by senior business leaders and an independent survey of 1,500 professionals.

It doesn’t surprise me that Google is number 1. What does surprise me however, is that Apple dropped out of the top 10. Especially with the iPhone launch.

Google seems pretty unstoppable at this point in time! But we have to give credit where credit is due. They have had a great impact and so far a very positive effect on our lives. Who could imagine not searching on Google?

Yeah it’s a little surprising that Apple dropped out of the top 10. Congrats to Google that is a pretty impressive accomplishment given the time periods. Pretty good indication of the power of the Internet and how much the world uses it.

Its surprising that apple isnt even in the top ten, microsoft I can understand (since the UK has issues with it). Google is going to be a force to be reckoned with

I don’t think there’s a single brand in the history of the world that has globally proliferated as fast as google. Think about it.
