InverSearch (http://www.inversearch.com) solves three primary Internet search related problems:

·	Irrelevant search results – reliance on keyword relevance and link authority
·	Unwanted clicks – 7% of online advertisers request refunds
·	Click fraud – 28% of online advertisers have stopped or reduced pay per click spending

The three main InverSearch qualities are:

·	Relevant search results – results are responses direct from businesses
·	Bona fide business leads – leads are inquiries direct from consumers
·	Immunity to click fraud – the pay per response model is an alternative to pay per click advertising

Google is a great company. They have done great work and deserve to be where they are. But the kind of power over the Internet that this company alone yields is a little scary.

Yeah it does seem like some of their competitors are throwing in the towel but I wouldn't count Microsoft out yet - they're pretty competitive and, as you mentioned, they're working on some innovations (hopefully they amount to something).

I wouldn't say Google isn't fighting to remain on top - I just worry a few years from now if/when there truly is no competition. Search would slowly become stagnant then.

Google's next competitor may come from overseas (maybe China?).

I hope others aren't throwing in the towel. Competition is a good thing. Can't say I blame the feelings. It seems no matter what other search engines do Google's market share only increases.

Google remains the search engine to reckon with. However, competitors will emerge. It is just a matter of time.

Great points... we agree with the other commenters. While Google seems to be the most innovative one at this point, it would be quite scary to see the kind of control and power they would have being the only ones. That's never, ever good. Having competition for Google still gives us more options even if they don't catch up.

On one hand i love Google, on another... This will indeed be scary if Google completely destroys any of "remaining" competition.

Google is trying desperately to dominate the online world and as great as their services are, I don't think I'd want a monopoly. They're spreading faster than the common cold lol

I couldn't agree more. I don't begrudge Google the position they have earned, but it would be a very scary proposition to only have one real competitor in search and advertising. If it does come to that Google will be able to dictate to every small website what they can and cannot do, MORE than they do now.

I am also not a big Microsoft fan and doubt a Microsoft/Yahoo merger will help either company, unless Microsoft get an entire new staff and attitude. Microsoft has turned into the stuffy IBM of old, so much so that only a major shake-up will turn around the way they are perceived on the Internet.

Here is hoping that someone will have the fortitude to compete with Google.
