Net Neutrality is so important, the day I have to go through a filter like China, will be a sad day. I really wish that the government would pre-empt this and make a law requiring net neutrality.

This whole blocked content thing is quite interesting, people pay for internet service to find the info they want. Not go through someones filter first.

Comcast may be the one getting the attention, but there are ISPs that are significantly worse in terms of blocking content. My boyfriend’s father lives in a rural area and uses a satellite internet service called HughesNet Broadband.

It’s supposed to be unlimited high speed internet (and it costs something like $60-70/month), but every time he tries to play simple games on a site like iWon, they cut him off. He can’t even begin to think about downloading a movie or streaming much of anything. His download speeds are also significantly slower on certain types of downloads. Since he already invested several hundred dollars in the equipment and signed a multi-year contract, they told him he’s pretty much stuck for now – but it’s definitely not what he signed up for.
