By the way, there was an article on how Craigslist only charges for real estate posting fees in some geographies but not all. Which means that Craigslist can make so much more money but they just don't care to. Isn't that crazy!?

Even with the high standards for hiring isn't there still the "dumbest guy at Google"?

Google is obviously in a position to hire whomever they want but sometimes you need good soldiers who know how to get things done...even if they don't have a 4.0 from an Ivy League. Some of the smartest people I know never went to college and some of the dumbest have MBAs from acclaimed colleges.

Just wonder when there might be a tipping point where Google looks at achievement in the real world over achievement in the classroom.

Wow, that sucks to be the Doubleclick workers. I realize that they probably had to get rid of some people, but it would be hard to do your job successfully for years and then suddenly have Google tell you that you're not good enough to do it.

CL is amazing.... I've sold a motorcycle, condo, seo services galore and DJ'ed for a couple (in San Francisco) that met on CL and chose every vendor for their wedding from CL.

I really admire Craig Newmark for sticking to his guns and not selling out - I would have sold years ago!

the CL biz model is amazing. They only charge for services in already established markets. And charging for the job postings really legitimizes them as the premiere service for finding a job in the area and blocks the spam!
