Definitely worth it for the person or small business who can't afford to pay for a web presence. Foresee this as being very popular.

I've viewed the video and I'm not very impressed with it. Why Google Site now when they already have Google Page Creator? Maybe somebody can help explain the difference between the two Google products. Is there some kind of duplication here?

Markk's last blog post..Where Have Some Of The Bloggers Gone?

Musashi, you answered what was going to be my first question, how will their sites be viewed in terms of PR and SERPs? Anyone else have an opinion on that?

@Nicole--Google already has Google Groups, not that it's any competition to Yahoo Groups, though.

This will be in direct competition to yahoogroups, but in a more stylish way. You are right, it is okay for people not looking for search engine visibility.

Looks like an awesom application to me.
Google-Robot-Visibility will sure be at a maximum, i can not imagine them not permanently crawling their own sites.
For search-ranking it will have minimum effect, that it is google-owned. Their algorithms are just too sophisticated for this. Maybe a little push to the front, but no significant difference.
