Listen while social marketing has not yet caught on I don't think that it won't it the future. Afterall aren't we usually asking our friends about references for products that we want to try out?

"Twisted views about sex"? I you really think that Second Life is just about this then you either are lazy and haven't tried it yourself or you have and have gone looking for the twisted sex. Sure it exists, just like it does on the wider internet, but more often that not you'd need to go out of your way to find it.
For a more balance view read the Reuter's Correspondant Wagner Au's blog. Oh and for companies doing interesting things in SL you could do worse than start with IBM and Orange - the second in particular is gaining themselves a really positive brand image among by their regular hosting of tech events on their island.

How sad that you think Second Life is only about having sex. Apparently you have not been in there yourself or you would know different. Just like in real life there is the "less desirable" aspects but there are also Museums, concerts, builds that defy imagination and reality, etc. Businesses conduct meetings in there every day. I suggest you run Google News search and see whats going on inside Second Life. Before slamming something perhaps you should first check it out. Look me up inworld. I would be happy to give you a tour.
