@Erwin – I guess you can get lucky when you buy domains in that a company may decide they really want a particular domain and if you have it in your inventory then you can make a profit if you sell. But additionally there can be value if you hold onto the domain with a live website, or take an existing website and improve its ability to be profitable as QualityNonsense suggests. That way you can make gains without having to sell.

SEDO and various website brokers are out there. If you run a search on “buy websites” on Google you’ll see lots of sites appear. People do sometimes sell websites on Ebay… However you might want to try contacting folks directly – for example QualityNonsense who spoke on the subject or affiliates within your website’s topical niche. SEO firms are also an option as they might have clients that could be interested…

I would simply add a reminder, when assessing websites, the URL is very important. Descriptive is good. Which today very likely also means long.
