Ahhh, the power of branding! Even I can call myself a guru ...but it don't make it so.... On the other hand, a guru is in the eye of the beholder... and we have to give them that powerfor it to hold water.

On the other hand, I think the territoriality of peoplesaying that social media can only be used for the purposes that THEY prefer is a specious argument .Remember back in, oh,'94-95 when the internet was not supposed to have ANY advertising..and a law firm got flamed for daring to.

Progress always has its darkside... and an entrepreneurial, capitalistic economy will always trend that way if there is money to be made.

I agree with everybody here, and to be honest, I am a bit overwhelmed with the value of information here. Lol, most people will sell this for top dollar. Bravo for doing this and sharing it for free.

It is very inspiring to read how HP for instance grew their sales simply by using bloggers. Ok, I am sure there is some great money involved in campaigns like that, but it tells us as well, if they can do it, anyone can.

WOW, some really great info. I have seen a couple of people who are really "gurus" with SMM ranting lately. Making a successful widget and having a better bounce rate were some good tips that stood out in my mind.

After reading the interview I tend to agree with what is said about social media marketing.
Bottom line social media marketing is more about communication than any other online marketing techniques (one could argue that advertising is a form of commm ..ok..a low-key one). I remember a blogger, unfortunately not his/her name, who said: I'm not a click, I'm not a keyword, I'm a person. I think that sums it up well for me. Engaging in the right context with the right content in the right communities is all about good communication in my mind

Certainly highlights some of the challenges of social marketing - it probably favours the small and very large business but not those who lie in between
