Yeah I went through this just recently from some scrapper who stole word for word entire posts form my blog and reprinted it on his site, he did retain all my internal links and so I got a Google Alert (great tool by the way) and I did confront him and notified him of my copyright policy that is blatantly posted on my blog, so he took it down.

I've had a recent spate of people "borrowing" my content. The users concerned aren't really competitive in SERPS but it is annoying nonetheless. I've had to install CopySentry as a consequence.

There is a fine line between copying and quoting, I guess people need to be honest about where they get their information from.

Amelia Vargo's last blog post..How to make a preloader in Flash

Being an open sharing medium doesn't mean it's a place for wholesale copyright theft.

If someone publishes something on their site is has been openly shared and links and minor quotes should be expected as long as attribution is given (links), it's fair game.

However, when someone else repurposes that content in it's entirety, which happens frequently, then it's beyond fair use and that's an easy line to draw,

Frank - well put and timely as I just created a FairShare feed for MicroPersuasion. FairShare is a free service for bloggers that lets you see how and where your work is reused.

As the name implies, we believe that sharing content fairly is a good thing for the Internet - very interested in your thoughts. You just need to plug this into your reader.
