Ask.com Adds Site Links

Aside from bringing butlers out of retirement, Ask.com has been working to improve its search results. This week Ask adds Domain Navigation (what Google calls Site Links) to the first listing in its organic results.

Here’s how it looks for a search for Disney:

Not really earth-shattering, is it? On the one hand, I’m glad Ask is continuing to make enhancements to its search engine. On the other, it’s just not enough really, is it? Adding a feature that’s already offered by Google, isn’t going to get anyone switching search engine loyalty.

Looks just like google now. Wonder if that will help them out.

Ask is definitely trying to stay in the game, I tuned into the last NASCAR event and they were promoting the hell out of Ask.

Its funny though, that their improvements are just making them look more like google.

What would really be helpful is if they provided a tool or instructions for how you can control what shows up in the sitelinks as well as the sort order.

Maybe Ask is just trying to keep up with the competition (Google)? It allows Google to do all the work and see what works for Google and then it just has to copy the look and features. Ask is trying to stay in the game, but they only need to keep up with Google’s new features and not re-invent the wheel.
