It appears Google’s decision to shutdown non-performing divisions has freed-up engineers’ time to get back to focusing on “core search.”

Google News Timeline

Next from Google Labs is a new feature that allows you to view news events on a zoomable, graphical timelime.

To browse through time, you simply specify a date in your search, drag the timeline of results, or set the time scale to days, weeks, months, years, or even decades.

It’s good to see Google getting back to enhancing our regular search experience–it’s even given Google Labs a makeover.
