Proof that Google is Shrinking in Size?

It appears Google is getting smaller in size–the logo, that is.

Philipp Lenssen spotted YAGT (Yet Another Google Test), this time it appears to involve a slightly smaller logo:

Have you seen this? I’m a little skeptic about its authenticity. Notice how the "Results 1- 10 of…." text is closer to the left in the second screengrab? Same with the login info. That often happens when you reduce your browser window size or screen resolution. That might account for the small looking logo–then again, it could be that Google will show a smaller logo only to those that have smaller screen resolutions.

Who knows? I just wanted to write a post title that included the words "Google" and "shrinking" — when does that ever happen? ;-)

Gotta say it just looks like it’s been ‘adjusted’ in Photoshop, it wouldn’t really be hard to do something like that! But who knows, maybe Google are being hit by the Crunch or something, and this is their way of ‘downsizing’…

Now, there’s going to some ‘go green’ fellow who is going to calculate how much energy was saved just because of this logo image shrinkage!

The screenshot is authentic. I can see exactly the same Google logo the whole day today in Google.bg (Bulgaria).

I could see Google presenting a specific image for each resolution out there. But the login info is probably due to some scaling that occurs as you resize your browser.

also, the left hand margin is increasing in size. this was more noticeable to me than the logo change.

Happening on Google.com.au as well. Left hand padding is annoying, methinks greasemonkey script is in order.
