It will see a big influx of business onto Facebook I think. The hype is that neither Twitter or Google have really got the real time search market yet and Facebook clearly see that as the future of search. It will certainly be interesting times. Of course we've been here before with sites like StumbleUpon and the semantic web supposed to have been Google killers in the past. The key though is that Facebook already have a huge market, and seemingly a market that 'get' the status updates available there in a way they don't appear to on Twitter. It has big potential.

I think the systems already developed for sharing at FriendFeed actually have a better future as a part of facebook - partly because my basic feeling is that the network effects of being a part of a platform with (apparently, according to someone's figures) 250 million users will mean more people will be likely to use them. Being off there in friendFeed made those new systems a bit elite, a bit special.

What I'm now wondering is what this will mean for flickr, vimeo, and youtube. They could be cut out of the social networking space if Facebook gets too much network effect traction and develops direct competition - already there are, apparently, more pictures on Facebook than on Flickr (or are the stats lying?)

If nothing else, it's going to make for some heated blog articles about the good and the evil... The shear complexity of discussion threads just went to a whole new level as well!
