No one really uses MySpace in my age group (40+) and I just checked with my 15 and 21 year old daughters and they don't use it either. Defo Facebook is the one that everyone in the UK seems to be using and Twitter? Well, I think the novelty is already starting to wear off...

Myspace's biggest competitor is surely Facebook, I'm not sure Twitter is really direct competition for either. Twitter has a degree of openness about it which means it can never really be used to form the more intimate networks seen on places like Facebook.

But there is no doubt that myspace's popularity has been hit hard by the rise of Facebook, I think most people agree that it is a lot better at what it does. And I think people will also begin to look at building their own site rather than hosting via myspace, especially as people begin to understand how easy it is and also the advantages of being in control.

I don't see Twitter displacing youtube or facebook, ever. It is great for posting and whatnot but facebook has much more to draw fans such as games and applications, while youtube is such a great time killer. Who doesn't want to spend hours watching videos?

I get the impression that adults here in the UK use Facebook, teens are fans of Bebo and MySpace is an afterthought.

I think Twitter may be able to compete with Bebo, but YouTube and Facebook? They're practically British institutions! Time will tell with Twitter, it still hasn't reached the cult status of facebook and youtube, but it has great potential
