Google got to where it has today because they worked damn hard at it and on a level playing field.

What Google needs is a pat on the back and a Thank You note, not this. I'm a die-hard Google fan, but that doesn't detract from the truth. Google gives us what we want, by being the popular nummer ein and not by ruling the world.

Sergey Brin is not, is not, is not Bill.

I only worry about Google as a monopoly when they wipe out entire industries like in the case of database backup. Because of the INSANE amounts of money they make off of PPC ads and a ridiculously high stock, they are able to invest enough money to enter and destroy an entire industry WAY too fast. Innovators and entrepreneurs and investors trying to compete can't keep up. That is my fear. I am not an economist, just and obsercer and I pay Google everyday for online ads for myself and my clients.

I completely agree with you. Dominating a marketplace because you're just better than the competition is not a monopoly. It's just...well, being good. :-D
