Great statistics. I think that social media will grow enormously in next 12 months. Because people have this feeling that social media sites like Facebook or MySpace represent more personal information, then you can ever put into the About me page o the blog or website.

Jordan,

These are some nice stats.. even a 1-2% increase is big when you consider the overall dollars involved. I've noticed newegg especially has really ramped up their social advertising on both facebook and twitter and I think it has done them well.

But, does the study differentiate between advertising by retailers on social media sites vs. "organic" social media links? I.e., postings on social networking sites by real people who happen to like a product and are telling their friends about it, as opposed to the retailers themselves who are tweeting every new product?
