The folks at Twitter are giving marketers a chance to show just how confident they are in being able to predict the future.

How you ask? By allowing them to schedule a tweet or ad up to a year in advance. From the Twitter blog we learn

Starting today, all marketers using Twitter’s Ad Products can schedule organic or Promoted Tweets for specific dates and times up to a year in advance. These can be coordinated to go live with new or existing Promoted Tweet campaigns to enable you to plan your real-time campaigns at your convenience.

Considering how things can change and what events might happen that can turn today’s harmless tweet into tomorrow’s insensitive blunder, I can’t imagine how anyone would feel comfortable in planning tweets that are any more than a few weeks out vs. months or even a year.

How far in advance are you willing to schedule tweets? Are there certain ‘timeless’ messages that you can feel completely confident in that no matter how far into the future they are scheduled you can not worry it might turn on you?
