It’s all well and good that you’re smart enough to run a balanced marketing campaign, but are you tracking the right metrics. This infographic will help you understand the difference between vanity metrics and those that actually matter.
There is truth in this – however, I would add some shade of grey to the delineation…
Those “vanity” metrics still have value as KPIs on the journey towards the “better” metrics – if you all you monitor is “leads generated” from social media and you get no leads at all in a period, you still need to refer back to other metrics to establish how to improve. Looking at a report which consists of a zero in the middle of a page doesn’t help you develop and improve strategy.
