Facebook Missteps and Failures [Infographic]

Sometimes it can feel like a bit of a hobby to point out the relative shortcomings of Facebook. If you ever want to see just how much time some people have on their hands just watch the comments after Facebook posts a service update either on their blog or their company page. Rarely do people talk about the update. Instead they use it as a platform to complain about what they feel is wrong with the social media giant.

Since these occurrences have happened quite a bit over the years, Wordstream has taken the time to put together an infographic to share many of the sources of the angst and other unkind feelings Facebook’s many starts and stops have generated over the years.

Are Online Reviews Killing Your Business? [Infographic]

Regardless of the size of your business online reviews can make or break you. It’s a difficult game to monitor and mange but one that can’t be ignored unless, of course, that you like being blind sided by reviews that you weren’t aware of. If that’s the case you may want to look for another line of work! Just sayin’ …….

The following infographic comes from 540|SEO and gives a good look at just why business owners should be more aware than ever regarding their reputation in the online space. To the right is a preview but please click through to see the entire infographic.

Social Media for the Career Minded [Infographic]

Here at Marketing Pilgrim we have an active job board which is nice because our industry, Internet and social media marketing, is growing quickly despite the dismal overall economy.

Our Infographics channel sponsor, Voltier Creative, has put together this pretty cool infographic (hmmm, I think I am seeing the connection here) about what is required for a career as a social media strategist. We are in a transitional time where this type of job is rapidly evolving and many companies are trying to figure out just what a social media strategist is (or should be).

Be sure to contact Voltier Creative if you have infographic needs for your business.

A Guide to Successful Event Marketing [Infographic]

The folks over at HubSpot are usually talking about ways to generate leads online but it appears that they are well aware of other ways to generate leads.

One way is to put on an event. To be sure, this kind of activity is no simple matter and, in fact, many have gotten themselves into an event marketing situation where they realized that they have bitten off a bit more than they could chew.

So HubSpot, off the heels of their Inbound Marketing Summit, put together an infographic to help guide you through the process of event marketing.Enjoy.

SEO Audit in 20 Minutes [Infographic]

InMotion Hosting has put together an infographic that tackles one of the most necessary yet under-utilized aspects of Internet marketing: the SEO audit. It’s under-utilized for the simple reason that many people don’t understand the importance of taking this step before moving forward with any SEO activities. Oh and they don’t want to spend the money to have it done, either.

The trouble is that if you don’t invest to know what’s working or not for your SEO efforts then you may end up “fixing” something in the process that was actually working.

SEO’s face this dilemma with clients all the time because they are fighting uphill in many cases due to the wonderful reputation the SEO industry enjoys amongst the uninitiated. Of course, some of that skepticism is well deserved but let’s not nit-pick!

Now doing all of this in 20 minutes if you don’t know what you are looking for? Not likely but, hey, it sounds nice. Click through to check this out.

Is E-mail Dying? Teens Check In

E-mail is one of those Internet marketing elements that creates a lot of conversation. That conversation not only takes place with customers who receive e-mails but also amongst marketers who wonder as to the viability of e-mail for the future.

E-mail marketing provider AWeber asked one of the most important groups with regard to the future of e-mail: teenagers. Most immediately assume (remember to never assume because of the potential consequences) that teens have no interest or even understanding of e-mail. On some levels that may be true but from the findings it looks like they are not ready to dismiss it both now or for the future.

Here is a preview of the infographic outlining their findings. Click through to see the rest.

Google’s Biggest Gamble [Infographic]

There was some serious debate as to whether this particular infographic would see the light of day here at Marketing Pilgrim.

It’s an interesting study on the power of information as a way to promote your business. You see, the infographic is very compelling and the title “Google’s Biggest Gamble” fits well with Google’s apparent roll of the dice in the purchase of Motorola Mobility for $12.5b.

So what’s the downside? The infographic was created by an online casino. To be very clear, we are not promoting or condoning online gambling. The whole industry and its legality is a political hot potato. What is interesting though, is the power of information to promote whatever it is you have to promote.

So check this out but remember that we appreciate the data but are queasy with the source. What’s your take? Can you “pretty up” an otherwise controversial subject by providing a strong presentation of data that many would find interesting?
