Win Copies of Richie Norton’s “The Power of Starting Something Stupid”

Richie Norton The Power of Starting Something StupidIt’s been a while since we gave away free books here on Marketing Pilgrim, but we have a great one for you today.

We’ve got 3 copies of Richie Norton’s newly released The Power of Starting Something Stupid to giveaway. If you think the title is catchy, wait ’til you read this challenging book. You’ll realize that the “stupid” idea that you have swirling around your head, may not be so crazy after all. In fact, you may be in the excellent company of some of the world’s most notable business owners.

In The Power of Starting Something Stupid, Richie Norton redefines stupid as we know it, demonstrating that life-changing ideas are often tragically mislabeled stupid. What if the key to success, creativity, and fulfillment in your life lies in the potential of those stupid ideas? This deeply inspiring book will teach you:

Terillion Acquires Hotel Guest Review Company GuestComment

As you may recall, this past summer saw my involvement in the launch of an exciting startup named GuestComment. Earlier today, Terillion, a leader in reputation management and marketing, acquired GuestComment.

GuestComment will join a stable of very impressive products offered by Terillion. Terillion’s CEO, Jon Black stated, “GuestComment will fit in perfectly with Terillion’s product offering. Terillion’s mission is to promote and protect the reputation of the best products and companies on the planet, and with the acquisition of GuestComment, along with Terillion’s other esteemed brands–this mission will prevail.”

In addition to the acquisition, Terillion will work closely with Trackur over the coming months to bring its industry leading social media monitoring to the company’s products.

While Google, Tripadvisor & Yelp Squabble, GuestComment Revolutionizes Hotel Reviews

While Google, Yelp, and Tripadvisor battle each other for the right to be named the “Hotel Review King,” I’ve been quietly working on the launch of a startup that will change the landscape of hotel reviews.

I know, I know, you’ve heard it all before: “[Startup name] plans to be the next [established leader] killer!”

But, GuestComment is different.

GuestComment today launches the first turn-key platform that allows hotel guests to share praise, complaints and feedback while onsite. Using a patent-pending system, GuestComment collects hotel guest reviews using interactive kiosks placed inside the hotel. All feedback is instantly sent to the hotel management, which can then acknowledge the praise, or address the complaint, before the hotel guest checks out. The onsite kiosks mean less fraudulent reviews, more happy guests, improved online reviews, and increase hotel revenues!

A Sneak Peek at What I’m Sharing at This Year’s Pubcon Vegas

Pubcon is by far one of the best internet marketing conferences you can attend, and it’s one of the few that I speak at on a regular basis. This year Pubcon moves up to October, so time is running out, if you wish to attend. Which reminds me, you can still save 20% off your registration by using the discount code: rc-9218020

In the meantime, I sat down with Arnie Kuenn of Vertical Measures to talk about Pubcon and what you can expect to learn from my Google Reputation Management session.

Transcription (edited):

Arnie:  Hello, I’m Arnie Kuenn, President of Vertical Measures. Vertical Measures. We’re a search, social, and content marketing agency in Phoenix, Arizona. And I’d like to introduce you to Andy Beal, the CEO of Trackur. How are you doing, Andy?

Marketing Pilgrim Celebrates its 10,000th Post!

Apparently, we like to talk about internet marketing…a lot!

This marks our 10,000th post since the site launched back in 2005. In some ways, that is hard to believe, but in many ways it makes a lot of sense. We are blessed to have worked with some of the best writers in the industry–including Frank Reed, Cynthia Boris, Joe Hall, Jordan McCollum, David Vogelpohl, Gareth Davies, Dave Snyder, Janet Meiners, Taylor Pratt and dozens more.

I’m also grateful to the thousands of loyal readers that check in with us every day–eager to catch our unique & quirky habit of finding the most interesting news and breaking it down with expert analysis. All of our readers rock (even the trolls with their overly baited comments make us smile).

Come Join the Marketing Pilgrim Crew at Search Exchange this July

We know how it is. There are a ton of search engine conferences all vying for your precious time and hard-earned dollars.

One that should be high on your list is Search Exchange 2012, being held in Charlotte, NC this July 23 through 25th.

It’s going to be Search Exchange’s biggest event yet, and the list of expert speakers includes a power-team from Marketing Pilgrim: Frank Reed, Joe Hall, and myself.

And, check this out, registration for the 3-day event is just $500!

You can register here.

See you there!
