There’s always something bittersweet about the last linky goodness of the month, don’t you think?

• The launch of the G1 Gphone generated instant interest—almost enough to match that of the iPhone (at the time). In searches, anyway, as Hitwise reports.
• I’m sure you’re all experts at Google Webmaster Tools, but just in case you’re not, the Google Webmaster Central blog today gives some tips for getting Advanced Website Diagnostics with GWT.

• The privacy saga that is Street View continues. One German town has announced its intention to require, then deny a permit to take the Street View pictures. That’s one way to do it—but can they enforce it?

Some of you will no doubt experience déja vu by the time you get to the end of this blog post, but I am announcing my departure from Fortune Interactive.

Last summer, after considering many opportunities, I decided to join forces with an investment group and help them form and launch a new search engine marketing firm. We discussed many plans and defined a clear vision for the launch of Fortune Interactive. The investment group agreed to provide the funding needed to build a world-class SEM firm, and I would bring the leadership, form a phenomenal executive team, hire great employees and attract discerning clients.

We need something better to celebrate than taxes today. I know—it’s Leonardo da Vinci’s birthday! And oh so very fittingly, we have a diverse collection of links today for linky goodness.

• Huh. Nobody’s complaining about a YouTube monopoly (yet), although YouTube Dominates Video More than Google Dominates Search.

• I hadn’t heard about this one, but Facebook will delay their redesign, originally scheduled for this month, until later in the spring.
• Yahoo’s not the only one with delusions of grandeur big plans: Google wants to take over China (the search market, anyway) within five years.
